Who is the Big Bull of India?

The big bull of India has been and will be the one and only “Rakesh Jhunjhunwala”. He has been the inspiration behind many Indian’s investing journey including me . He was often referred to as India’s own Warren Buffet .

Big Bull in the making : –

Born on 5th of July 1960 , Jhunjhunwala was an Indian billionaire , Chartered accountant , stock trader and investor . He began investing in 1985 with a capital of just Rs 5000. His first big profit came in the form of Rs 5 lakh in 1986.

Big Bull’s investment portfolio :-

He managed his own portfolio in his asset management firm RARE ENTERPRISE . He was the chairman of Aptech limited , Hungama Digital Media Entertainment PVT. Ltd. As of 2021 , his biggest investment was in Titan Company which is worth Rs7,294 crore. In July 2021, he invested in Akasa Air , a low cost airline in India , investing $400 million for a 40% stake in the airline . Jhunjhunwala has even coproduced several Bollywood films.

Big Bull’s personal life :-

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala married Rekha Jhunjhunwala on 22 February 1987 . The couple has three children together. His stock trading firm Rare Enterprises , derives its name from the first two initials of his name and his wife Rekha’s name .

The Death of Big Bull :-On 14 august 2022 , Jhunjhunwala felt ill and was rushed to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai , and died at approximately 6:30 a.m . Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi shared his condolences stating , ” Rakesh jhunjhunwala was indomitable . Full of life , witty and insightful , he leaves behind an indelible contribution to the financial world . He was also very passionate about India’s progress. His passing away is saddening.”

A leader in his own right , Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was an ace investor , bold risk taker and had masterly understanding of the stock market . At the time of his death he had an estimated net worth of $5.8 billion, making him the 438th richest person in the world.
